Women's Sideline II
Nike has been designing great cheer shoes for many years.  Most popular among the recreational and competitive level cheer programs was the Nike Sideline II Cheerleading Shoe.  It was also a top seller for 2011. The low-profile sole creates a sleek look and the color inserts for the Nike logo allows for customization with your team colors. The non-marking rubber outsole makes it perfect for indoor or outdoor use. The Nike Sideline II Cheerleading Shoes are expected to be available for the 2012 cheer season and is available in youth and women's sizes.

Youth Sideline II
Fitting cheerleading shoes is always challenging. In general, we have found the Nike Sideline II runs about 1/2 size smaller than regular street shoe sizes. In youth sizes you might want to go up 1/2 size for a little growing room.  Go up a whole size for plenty of growing room or if you have a wider  foot.  In women's sizes you might want to go up 1/2 size if you do not like a snug fit or if you have a wider foot go 1/2 to a whole size up. For a snug fit we recommend ordering regular street shoe sizes.  Sizing recommendations are based on experience from fitting the shoe. Of course, there are many different factors that come into play when fitting shoes so these are just recommendations and not guaranteed fits.

Cheer and Pom offers competitive team pricing and Team Sales Specialists that will be happy to assist you with fitting your team for cheer shoes.

Selecting a cheerleading shoe to fit your budget and needs

Previously we talked about how Cheer and Pom can help you in every aspect of your shoe buying process.  One very challenging factor that all coaches and coordinators face during this process is finding a shoe within their desired budget.  Something we hear about year in and year out are styles being picked out and calculated into a budget only to be ordered months later and told they are discontinued or out of stock.

Cheer and Pom makes shoe selection recommendations based on two different approaches.  The first way is to select a shoe style first and work your budget around that.  The second approach is to set your budget and then select a shoe style around it.  Which approach you choose depends on what is important to you and your team.
Selecting a shoe style first

Finding a shoe that fits your needs is ultimately the most important determining factor in a cheer shoe.  Some squads need styles available in both kids and women’s, some squads desire a low-profile shoe, and other squads may want an extremely lightweight and flexible style.

Once you find a style suited to your team, the next most important step is to make sure it is an IN-STOCK style for your upcoming season.  Many times less expensive footwear may be discontinued with very limited availability. If it is not clearly marked on the website, we recommend that you call to find out.  The last thing any cheer coordinator or coach wants to hear is that the shoe style is not available when they are ready to purchase.

Important things to keep in mind when selecting a shoe style first:
·         Additional features, such as lightweight and flexibility, may be on the high-end of the price scale
·         Make sure the desired style will be an in-stock style for the upcoming season
Setting a budget first

Setting a budget before selecting your footwear can result in leaving you with a limited selection of sizes and a style that may not work perfectly for you.

If setting your budget first, we recommend at the very least, doing a little research to find the least expensive IN-STOCK shoe for the season.  What this does is allows you to know the lowest possible price you would pay for a shoe that will be in stock for you entire season.  Although some styles will be less expensive, they will  most likely be discontinued with limited sizes.  Depending on the size of your team and sizes needed, this may work out to your advantage.

Choosing your shoes and working within a budget doesn’t have to be difficult.  Call 877-200-4944 to talk to the Team Sales Specialists at Cheer and Pom for assistance finding out what will work best for your team.  Part 3 runs you through how to size your team.

Sizing Shoes for your Cheer Squad

After finding your perfect shoes for your team comes the even more strenuous part of sizing them. The sizing process for a large squad can be simplified by giving yourself and your organization enough time to purchase a size run of shoes. A size run is every size from smallest to largest in a given style. Purchasing a size run of shoes for fitting purposes will minimize the amount of returns and exchanges that might have to be done. Cheer and Pom has found the following process to be the most successful :
  1. Purchase one pair of every size in whole sizes or whole and ½ sizes depending on the size of the squad.  Commonly you would start with a whole size smaller than the smallest size worn on the team and go up to a whole size larger than the largest size worn on the team.
  2. Try the shoes on the entire squad to determine the sizes that are needed for all members needing shoes. Make sure to lace the shoes up all the way just like they would be worn normally and walk around in them.  Walk around in them.  Are they too tight?  Do they slip? This is a great time to get the perfect fit.  Taking the extra time now will save your team from headaches of finding a different size in the future.  If you have younger members on your team you should take into account the possible need for "growing room".  Also be sure to try the shoes on carpeted or clean indoor surfaces to keep them as clean as possible in case you need to return them after the sizing process.
  3. Keep the sizes you need  from your sizing order and send the rest back to your vendor. You know will know the exact sizes and quantities that you will need for your team to complete your order.
  4. Order the remaining sizes needed from your vendor.
  5. *Cheer and Pom Exclusive* Immediately after ordering (or before if you were working with one of our Team Specialists) email us a roster with sizes  for each member of your team.  We will have your shoes pre-labeled when they are shipped to you to make for easier distribution.  This service is currently provided at no additional charge!
Of course, time does not always permit to order a size run of shoes. So if you need shoes in a hurry, we recommend:
  1. Contacting our team sales specialists to get an idea of how your particular style of shoe  may fit.
  2. We cannot guarantee fit, but we can give you our best recommendations based on industry knowledge and past experience personally fitting cheerleading shoes.
  3. Order shoes for all members of your team.
  4. If some sizes do not fit, send them back for an exchange.  It is important to keep shoes clean when trying them on as most companies will not accept back dirty and worn shoes.
Something to note is that every company has different return and exchange policies.  Be sure to review them so you know what to expect before you begin this process.  You can see Cheer and Pom’s return and exchange policy here.

Cheer and Pom is always happy to assist in the shoe sizing process and will always give you recommendations based on your needs. What makes our team sales specialists so unique is that we listen to your needs and work around those needs to get you the most simplified shoe buying process.  Start a conversation today by calling us at 877-200-4944.  Be sure to read onto Part4 that highlights the return and exchange process and also unique services that CheerandPom.com offers.

Nfinity Vengeance Cheer Shoes

Have you heard the hype???  Just when you thought a cheer shoe couldn’t get any lighter after the Nfinity Evolution (weighed 6.5 oz), the Gameday (6.3 oz) and the Phoenix (5.9oz); Nfinity went and did it again.

The Nfinity Vengeance is now one of the lightest shoes on the market weighing in at just 3.9 ounces!  So how did they managed to make a shoe that light?  They achieved such a light weight by the materials that they used.  Most noticeably is the lack of a leather upper.  They instead used a lightweight nylon mesh with an interior and exterior “skeleton” to give the shoe form and support.  This also introduced a new concept of showing your spirit.  In the past there were brands that utilized color changing cards that you could match to your team colors. With the introduction of this mesh design, the color sock that you wear will be visible through the shoe!  The image below shows this, but it doesn't do it justice.  It definitely looks better in person.
View of pink sock through Nfinity Vengeance
Other features of this shoe are bubble laces, 3 rubber pads in high wear areas, comfort cushions in the heel, and of course the signature Nfinity case.
This is a competitive level cheer shoe.  To increase the life of the shoe we recommend only wearing it on a spring floor or during competitions. The fit of the Nfinity Vengeance cheer shoe is much different than regular street shoe sizes.  The Nfinity Vengeance typically fits small and a bit on the narrow side. In kids sizes, we usually recommend going up 1 to 2 full sizes from regular street shoe size, with most people ending up going up 2 full sizes from street shoe size. In women’s, we usually recommend going up ½ to 1 full size depending on the width of your foot and how you want the shoe to fit. We have found the Nfinity Vengeance runs very similar to the Nfinity Evolution with the exception of having a slightly wider toe box.  Typically this is not wide enough to change the fit. Of course, these are just recommendations and we do not guarantee a fit.

Outfit Your Cheerleading Team with Shoes Summary
The heart of the cheer season is quickly approaching for many youth organizations and competitive teams. Shoe sizing has always proven to be challenging for a large squad. Over the last few weeks, Cheer and Pom has recommended ways to make the shoe sizing process simplified. Those recommendations included:
1.       Selecting a budget and selecting a shoe to meet your needs (Part 2)
2.       Sizing shoes (Part 3)
3.       Cheer and Pom Exclusive Services (Part 4)
Each of these recommendations can work as a guide for you and your team to find the perfect shoe, within the desired budget, and to size as accurately as possible the first time around.  Cheer and Pom specializes in footwear, which makes our main focus helping you keep the process as simple as possible.

The Kaepa Touch cheerleading shoe is now available for purchase at Cheer and Pom and is already bumping its way to the top seller list. This shoe is designed for indoor/outdoor use and the sleek low profile design makes it appealing to cheerleaders at all levels.
Kaepa Touch

The stable platform of the Kaepa Touch is designed to provide superior support and an immediate sensory connection between base and flyer. This shoe has everything...a torsional outsole bridge, structural sidewall bands, and a reinforced textured toe for added durability.
We have found that the Women's Kaepa Touch runs fairly true to size if you like a snug fit. Otherwise, we would recommend ordering 1/2 size larger than street shoe size. The kids sizes run a bit on the small side and only come in whole sizes so we would recommend ordering 1 full size larger than street shoe size to give adequate growing room.  As always, these are just recommendations and not guaranteed fits.

How to make sure your cheer shoes fit properly

$
0
0
Since most cheerleading shoes are only available to purchase online, the shoe buying process can get rather exhausting and sometime expensive if the shoes do not fit properly the first time around. Many people will make due with what they have if it is only a 1/2 size difference; however, you should not just "make due" when it comes to cheer shoes. Improperly fitting shoes can result in injury which is why it is so important to ensure they fit properly.

If possible, the first thing you want to do is to go in a local shoe store and have your foot measured with a Brannock device. This will give you a standard measurement of your foot. Once you have your foot size you can then choose the appropriate sized shoe depending on how the shoe runs. Some shoes run small and some run big, so the Brannock measurement will give you the best starting point.
Brannock Device
When you first try on your cheer shoes, you want to consider how the length fits. On a normal street shoe, you typically want about a thumb width of room to compensate for growning and for just overall comfort. While this is ideal within cheer shoes there are a couple things to consider. The first is how much room you actually need for growing. If you are growing steadily, the thumb width will be ideal, not too big and not too small. For the girls who like to have their shoes fit snug without a thumb width, make sure you walk around and do some jumps to ensure the front part of the shoe will not bother you when you are cheering.

Many times we take shortcuts in purchasing and trying our shoes on. Having a shoe that fits correctly can also increase safety. Whether you are a base, tumbler or flyer, having an ill fitting shoe can put you and your teammates at risk. Taking the time and ensuring proper fit is important and can prevent pain and injuries all while increasing safety.

If you would like help with sizing, we can give you our best recommendations based on previous experience fitting teams. Leave a comment or call us at 877-200-4944. CheerandPom.com, for all of your cheer and dance footwear needs.

Cheer Shoes Flashback

Cheerleading shoes have not always been what they are today. In the past, cheerleading shoes were simply athletic shoes or what people commonly refer to as saddle shoes.  They did not have any fancy designs or color inserts to match your team colors.

Cheer Shoes in 1970
As cheerleading began to take off in the competive world, cheer shoes also began to evolve to meet the needs of the growing sport. Cheer shoes began to curve toward what they are today in the 1980's and 1990's. In today's cheerleading market, there are numerous styles of footwear available depending on the type of squad and have many features specific to the athletes needs.

The three primary levels of cheerleading are competitive (high school or middle school), all star, and recreational. Each level will require different footwear needs. For example, all star level cheer usually require an extemely lightweight and flexible shoe for stunting and tumbling. Shoes designed for all star level cheer typically cannot be worn outside as the support will break down quickly. Recreational cheer shoes are designed for indoor or outdoor use and can range greatly in price and quality. With each cheer level having specific footwear needs each vendor will typically design one style each year to meet the needs of each level.
Cheer Shoes in 2012

The sport of cheerleading continues to change and with that change, the apparel and footwear cheerleaders wear will also change to meet their needs. Cheer and Pom continues to offer top-of-the-line footwear and our Team Sales Specialists offer knowledge about all our cheer shoes to help you select the best shoe for you and your squad.

Nfinity Evolution vs. Kaepa Stellarlyte

Just as cheerleading is a very competitive sport, the cheer footwear industry is also very competitive. Especially when it comes to performance level cheerleading!

The two main footwear styles for performance level cheer are the Nfinity Evolution and the Kaepa Stellarlyte. While both styles have many different features they are both designed for the same type of cheerleading. Each style may or may not suit the needs of your squad and should be compared before deciding which style will work best.

The Nfinity Evolution was one of the first extremely lightweight and flexible shoe styles in the industry. The Evolution weighs in at 6.5 oz. and is form fitting to the foot. Other features of the shoe include bubble laces to make sure the laces stay tied and Ankle Loc Technology to enhance the fit around the heel. They even come with a red carrying case, which is almost as popular as the shoe!

Nfinity Evolution

The Kaepa Stellarlyte is also a top-selling performance shoe weighing in at 6 oz. Other features of the Kaepa Stellarlyte beside the lightness are the secure fit system for a better fit and the waterproof Scotchguard coating to keep the mesh cleaner.
Kaepa Stellarlyte

Both the Stellarlyte and the Evolution are adequate for performance level cheer and squads should take into consideration the features of each shoe to determine which style will best fit your squad needs. Take a look below and compare the two shoes.
